About Me
Welcome! I’m Zach Sgro, a passionate journalist and storyteller with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Science.
Professional Journey
My journey in the dynamic realm of journalism has been both exhilarating and enriching. As a Production Assistant at “No Bullsh*t News with Charlie LeDuff,” I spearheaded the discovery of news leads, fostering an environment that allowed for the continuous growth and diversification of our consumer base. Managing communication lines with sources and guests I ensured our newsroom remained up-to-date and agile in responding to variables.
In my role as the lead social media producer, I played a pivotal role in expanding our viewer base and overall analytics. Additionally, I directed live stream remote shoots and contributed to weekly writers’ meetings, demonstrating a multifaceted approach to news production. I took the helm as a camera director during live streams, enhancing the on-screen presence with a created persona for the show.
During my internship at WKTV, I honed my skills in prioritizing and editing content within tight deadlines. A versatile team player, I willingly stepped into various roles, including director and anchor, showcasing adaptability in a dynamic atmosphere.
Previous Engagements
My journey includes being a Campus Desk Reporter at The State News, co-founding and leading Spartan Sports Report, and contributing as a cameraman for MSU Telecasters. As the IFC Chair for Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, I developed leadership skills that complement my journalistic endeavors.
Technical Proficiency
Proficient in the Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, InDesign, and AP Style, I bring a robust technical skill set to the table. My experience in studio camera work and copy editing, coupled with forklift certification, reflects my dedication to excellence in diverse fields.
